Worker Receives Thousands in Wrongful Firing Case

CHICKASAW COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)- A federal jury awards a former Chickasaw County worker over $80,000 in a wrongful firing case. The three day trial ended Wednesday with former Solid waste officer Lamont Griggs receiving $83,447 in connection with his December 2015 dismissal.

Attorney Jim Waide convinced the jury that Griggs was let go primarily because he ran for Sheriff against then Chief deputy and now Sheriff Jim Meyers.
