LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)-A New Albany man is in critical condition after smashing into another car Tuesday afternoon.

Highway Patrol spokesperson Chris Turnipseed confirmed 82-year-old Robert Coltharp exited Highway 82 eastbound in a Volvo station wagon and was trying to turn northbound on Highway 45 Alternate to go toward West Point when he pulled in front of a southbound Chevrolet Camaro driven by 19-year-old Laura Duncan of Aberdeen.

Both Dunkin and Coltharp were taken to Baptist Golden Triangle Hospital in Columbus. Duncan received only minor injuries while Coltharp reportedly punctured a lung and was taken to the intensive care unit.

Both Duncan and Coltharp were wearing seat belts.
