Post Offices Remain Open Later for Tax Day

COLUMBUS, MISS. (WCBI)- If you haven’t filed your taxes yet time is running out– but local post offices are ready if you wait until the last-minute.

Some post offices in the Golden Triangle Area will remain open later to help accommodate last-minute tax filers.

Normally the deadline to file your taxes is April 15th. Due to the legal holiday in Washington–Emancipation Day–The deadline is Monday.

 

The IRS accepts the first class postmark as proof of filing by April 18th.

If you’re not able to file today, you can file an automatic six month extension form.

Here’s a list of post offices in our area that will stay open later:

  1. COLUMBUS PO, 3202 Bluecutt Rd. Closes at 5:30 P.M.
  2.  STARKVILLE PO, 822 Taylor St. Closes at 5:30 P.M.
  3. TUPELO PO, 362 S. Thomas St. Closes at 6:00 P.M.
