COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A local church is feeding the hungry one meal at a time.

First United Methodist Church in Columbus is packing 25 thousand meals to send to those in need in the Philippines.

It’s all apart of the “Stop Hunger Now” Movement which is an international hunger relief organization that distributes food around the world.

Included in the meal is rice, a vitamin packet and water filters to clean contaminated water.

The church wanted to give back to those in need and found this as a great opportunity.

“Everything we have been given in life, every gift, everything that is good, even life itself is a gift from God and so the church decided that out of generosity and gratitude that they wanted to give back but it is also right in line with us theologically in that God gave everything, sacrificially so that others could have life so we’re trying to take that to heart and try to be faithful and follow God in that,” said Rev. Raigan Miskelly, FUMC Columbus.
