COLUMBUS, Miss. – (WCBI) The state of Mississippi is now one of the top five deadliest states in America to be a member of law enforcement.
Seven officers died in the line of duty last year.
Tuesday night, law enforcement agents and families from across the Magnolia State paused to remember the fallen.
Candles glowed from the parking lot of the Columbus Police Department tonight, as participants remembered those who’ve died in a mission to protect and serve.
As part of National Police Week, the Columbus Police Department hosted a candle light vigil for officers who’ve died in the line of duty.
Military members of the Columbus Air Force Base Security Forces also participated.
