Video: Dollar General Awards Local Libraries

LAMAR CO., Ala. (WCBI) — Local libraries in Lamar County are awarded some money to help fund youth literacy programs.

The Dollar General Literacy Foundation awards $8,000 to four libraries in the area.

Kennedy Public Library, Millport Public Library, Sulligent Public Library, and Mary Wallace Cobb Memorial libraries all received $2,000 from the grants.

The money helps pay for books and entertainment for reading programs.

Mary Wallace Cobb Memorial Library Director Amanda Bravo the library received the grant last year, and they were “surprised” to receive it again this year.

Bravo also said 120 kids participated in the library’s summer literacy program last year.
