GOLDEN TRIANGLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Mississippi Legislature is dealing with a deficit, meaning many budget cuts are on the table.

Also making it’s way to the table possible tax cuts for businesses.

“I’m never opposed to tax cuts but on the flip side we have to make certain that we are able to pay our bills,” says District 43 Representative Rob Roberson.

When you are facing a deficit paying all your bills gets tougher, budget cuts get deeper.
Roberson says making it all work is about balance.

“I’m sure that some of these are some great ideas ,but sometimes even great ideas have to wait.”

One thing is for sure Roberson and District 42 Representative Carl Mickens will do what it takes to make sure education is not cut.

“Schools are taken care of,teachers are taken care of,that my university is taken care of,” says Roberson.

“Do all we can to make sure they get a solid foundation, that their future will be brighter,” says Mickens.

Budget discussions will be fought out for a few more weeks before any final decisions will likely be made.
