WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – West Point wants to become the healthiest city in Mississippi.
To that end, adventure met exercise today at the NMMC West Point Wellness Center.
Children ages 5 to 12 showed their paces on a Jungle Adventure Race course.
Challenges included a rope climb, a kangaroo hop and even a crocodile creep.
All the muddy, wet fun served as a fundraiser for The Healthy West Point Task Force.
Wellness Director Tracy Arnett says, “A lot of adults around here have done a warrior dash, and that’s an adult adventure race, but we have never done a children’s race. So we are trying to raise money for a healthy West Point Task force in a fun way.”
5-6 year old winner Luke DeSantis says, ” It was like awesome. When I ran into the water, I was like, I’m about to jump in and swim in there, and then when it was over here, then I was like can I jump in the water.”
The goal for this years event was to raise $5,000 for the Healthy West Point Task Force.
