MACON, Miss. (WCBI) — A Macon family is without a place to live after an early Sunday morning fire destroys their home.

Monday, state fire marshals were at the scene of the Hall Street blaze that happened around 12:45 a.m. Sunday. Apparently a passing motorist  placed a call to 911 after seeing the fire.

“I really just don’t know. It’s kind of hard now, we couldn’t get here in time. We just didn’t save nothing. We don’t have nothing right now, it’s just nothing. Just got to take it one day at a time,” said Dorean Taylor, one of nine people who lived in the home.

Two adults and seven children ranging in ages from 3 to 19 lived at the home. None were at home at the time.

“When we first got here, we were told that somebody was in there. We set up two search teams and they went in, they couldn’t find anybody. Shortly after that, we found out they had been located and everybody was okay,” said Macon Fire Chief Billy Whitehead.

“I was the last one to leave, but I didn’t know it was going to happen like this. I wasn’t gone not but like 30 minutes. And got a phone call coming back to this and I ain’t feel right,” said resident April Dooley.

No word from officials as to the cause of the blaze that has family members wondering just where they’ll be staying permanently.

“Well, right now we are  just staying at the Oak Tree Inn and from there, I really don’t know right now,” said Taylor.

On one bright note, no one was hurt and the family “did” have insurance.
