Body Found In July Identified

ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) — Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley says the body found on Splunge Road in Greenwood Springs Community in Monroe County on July 31, 2015 has been positively identified. Mr. Johnny Pace was reported missing on July 27 and his body was discovered in woods off Splunge Road on July 31st.

As previously thought, the body is that of Johnny Pace, age 28 of Flynn Street in Sulligent, Alabama.

“It took a couple of weeks to get all the records needed to send to the state medical examiner and for them to complete their examination in Pearl where the body has been since July 27th. I was informed Friday afternoon that a forensic identification had been made using dental records I obtained from 2 local dentists and we are now finished with the examination. The autopsy did not show any trauma to the body, we believe he died of natural causes but at this time an exact cause has not been determined and due to the decomposition of the body caused by the hot weather. We may not be able to pinpoint the exact cause of death, but no foul play is suspected” Gurley said

The body of Mr. Pace was released to the families funeral home Friday afternoon.
