TUPELO, Miss.(WCBI) — It is all about making use of the little bit of space that you have, to create the garden of your dreams.

The Tupelo Garden Club and the Lee County Master Gardeners sponsored “A Celebration of Gardens” Saturday at the Tupelo Community Garden south the the Farmers Depot.

Master gardeners were on hand to give tips to residents on how to maximize their gardens.

Lee County Master Gardener Reginald Rose says it’s all about finding enough sufficient space to plant.

“Most people don’t have a large place to put their gardens so we have erected about 18 raised beds in which we’re demonstrating how much you can accomplish in a smaller garden, ” he says “Annuals, Perennials, a kitchen garden, a three sisters garden, a butterfly garden all of these are a mix of things that we are doing here today,” Rose explains.

Rose says most gardens require lots of sunshine and plants grow better when there is sunshine so it is important to pick an open spot for your garden. He says it is also important to put organic material in the soil rather than chemicals or fertilizers.

And Rose says of course water your garden on a regular basis.
