LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A company will start removing debris from Lowndes County tornado damaged areas on Thursday.

County Administrator Ralph Billingsley tells WCBI the county has taken quotes from companies.

Supervisors approved up to 50 thousand dollars worth of work to be done in the New Hope area after last week’s tornado.

Billingsley says county road crews have been picking up debris but this company will allow the county employees to continue their day to day operations.

Residents should put the debris on the right of way.

Landfill fees have been waived by the city.

The county does have reserve funds in place to pay for the removal.
