ALICEVILLE, AL. (WCBI)- In just the blink of an eye, one Pickens County couple found themselves homeless.

By the time the storm roared past, David and Annie Seay lost their home of more than 25 years.

They both tell me everything still seems unreal.

When day light rolled around this morning, and they saw what the storm did to their home, they were devastated, yet thankful at the same time.

“I’m still in a little bit of a shock, we realize it’s reality but it’s still kinda hard to accept,” David Seay said.

Seay said he is still at a loss for words after Tuesday’s tornado completely destroyed his home.

“You don’t want to see nothing like that you know, you didn’t want to see that,” he said. “The roof flew off and It was just totally bad.”

The Seays kept track of the storm throughout the day.

“We were listening to the TV and the radio, and then when the tv blanked off the radio kicked in and said it was in this area so we took cover the best way we could,” Annie Seay said.

And When the storm arrived the couple was huddled together in their hallway.

They describe the storm as a devastating.

“My wife and I we were holding hands, and started praying, next thing I know, it hit,” Seay said.  “It was strong winds, and class flying and stuff, debris going everywhere, and we say the window blow out and its was amazing.”

The storm only lasted a moment. But it took most of the house along with it.

“We looked up and could tell the roof had been lifted and sat back down, and then we opened the door and I noticed a wall to the north side of the street that had collapsed in our bedroom,” Seay said. “It opened up just like i’m looking down the road right now.”

The couple said it was only God’s Grace that they were able to make it out ok

“The fact that we came out with out a scratch, it’s like God just took care if us right there in that spot,” David Seay said.
Both David and his wife say they will be staying with family members until they are able to get back on their feet.
