WINSTON COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Two people are dead after an apparent murder-suicide in Winston County.

Louisville Assistant Police Chief Andy Taylor says they got the call around 1 Monday morning that shots rang out at the Rogers Street Apartments.

When they arrived two people were dead, the female was shot several times and the male died from an apparent self inflicted gun shot.

Winston County Coroner Scott Gregory says neighbors heard the two fighting before the gunfire started.

The victim is 24 year old Brittany Tyler, her killer, is 31-year old Jearien Ball.

Her Facebook’s about me section says “A young lady that’s going to make big things happen.”

Brittany Tyler’s dreams were cut short by a man her friends are referring to as her ex boyfriend.

” Full of spirit. She was a free spirit. She always had a smile on her face, you’ll never come in the junction and not see her smile, even when she’s upset or crying. She always had that big beautiful smile,” says Coworker Monica Broaden.

Coworker and friend of Brittany Tyler, Monica Broaden says, now the Junction feels a little less bright.

“It’s rough, it’s tough, because she was full of life, I mean not a day goes by that you don’t look forward to seeing her at work. So, we all are taking it really hard right now,” says Broaden.

Tyler was murdered by a man Broaden says was her ex boyfriend.

“She recently said she had broke it off with him, and he accepted the fact that he was broken up, and he was supposed to be coming to get his stuff Sunday after she got off work.”

Instead, according to the Winston County Coroner, he shot Tyler multiple times.

Even though Brittany will not be dropping by the Junction anymore, Broaden says her spirit will always live on there.

“We will always remember her smile, we just want her to know that she will always be loved.”

The bodies have been sent to Jackson for an autopsy, we should know more on Wednesday.
