Video: Heritage Academy Seniors Dedicate First ‘Little Library’
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Seniors at Heritage Academy hope a small house they’ve built will turn into something really big.
This year’s class took on the community read and feed program as their senior project.
The seniors dedicated their first “Little Library” today.
Students built the small library and unveiled it today in front of Heritage Elementary School.
Columbus Mayor Robert Smith placed the first book. The idea is to fill the “library” with books, so the community can come take a book for free. But they must replace it with at least one book. They hope others will spread across the community.
“We’ve learned to give back ot the community, but also it encourages people to read and to be a part of the community through exchanges like this and taking books.
The class also donated a new bench in front of Heritage Academy as its gift to the school.
