Lowndes United Way, Helping Hands Seek Fans

COLUMBUS, MS.  – Temperatures are already beginning to rise in Northeast Mississippi. Most of us adjust our thermostats to cool off, but some residents of Lowndes County do not have that luxury. To assist them, United Way of Lowndes County has teamed up Helping Hands for their 9th annual summer fan drive.

“Helping Hands is already receiving phone calls from people who live without a proper cooling system and are seeking fans,” United Way of Lowndes County Executive Director Patricia Brock said. “Donating a new fan will give relief to a family or individual during our grueling summer heat. This is a great group or family project to implement in your home, school, or business,” she added.

Due to safety concerns, only new fans can be accepted.

They can be dropped off at Helping Hands, located at 223 22nd Street North between 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Call 328-8301 before delivering.

To find out if you are eligible to receive a fan, please contact Helping Hands at 328-8301.

Fans are distributed to individuals and families who have inadequate or no cooling systems in their homes. Here is a history of our drives:
