Video: Memorial Service Held To Honor Fallen Officer

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Two years ago, tragedy struck in Tupelo.

Police officers Gale Stauffer and Joseph Maher were shot while responding to a bank robbery.

Maher spent months recovering from his injuries. Stauffer was killed.

Today a memorial service was held to honor Stauffer’s sacrifice.

Law enforcement officers filled the Link Center to pay their respects to Stauffer and his family.

Friends and family of Stauffer say not a single day goes by that they don’t think about their fallen hero.

During the service, The Police department Honored mayor Jason Shelton with a retired flag that was flown at TPD.
