Prentiss County Law Enforcement Arrest Two In Attempted Burglary

PRENTISS CO., Miss. (PRESS RELEASE) – Two are arrested after attempting to rob a dwelling where a 14-year-old child was home alone.

On January 4th, deputies responded to call that a burglary was in progress on County Road 8200.

That call came in when a couple, 22-year-old Shelby Gene Box of Rienzi and 20-year-old Tina Dyal of Booneville, broke into a house, not realizing anyone was there.

The teenager reportedly hid somewhere in the house, while the pair of thieves began gathering items and piling them up in the living room.

The couple ran off when the child’s parents pulled in the driveway.

Deputies met the would-be burglars’ vehicle on the road where they conducted a felony traffic stop.

Box and Dyal were charged with burglary of an inhabited dwelling.

Their bonds were set at $15,000 dollars each.
