HAMILTON, Miss. (WCBI) – It started more than 20 years ago and on Saturday, residents celebrated the annual Hamilton Appreciation Day.

Vendors, food and political candidates were all on hand for 25th Annual Hamilton Appreciation Day.

The day is set aside once a year as a time for the community to come together and support the local schools, fire department and other non-profit groups.

A political rally was also held for candidates in the county.

Organizers of the event say it’s a family fun festival that supports a worthy cause.

“And all the proceeds go back into the community. Either the volunteer fire department or to the school or anything we need on a daily basis. We keep striving year after year and growing year after year and it’s a wonderful place, that’s why we say Hamilton is a small community with a big heart,” said President of Hamilton Appreciation Day, Chris Eaves.

The celebration was hosted at the Hamilton High School gym.
