COLUMBUS, Miss.(WCBI)–The Mississippi Bureau of Investigations continues it’s investigation of the Friday night officer involved shooting death of a Columbus man. Three Columbus Police Officers remain on paid administrative leave surrounding the death of 26 year old Ricky Javenta Ball. Columbus Mayor Robert Smith has called for unity and calm in the wake of the incident.

However, words posted on social media by a city official seems to be the next chapter in an uphill climb bringing together the police, the community, and the victim’s family.

Ward 4 Councilman Marty Turner apparently dissatisfied with the seeming lack of involvment from Councilman Kabir Karriem and Supervisor Leroy Brooks, launches verbal attacks via facebook.

Turner is standing by those words he submitted on facebook, some of which can be considered obscenities.

“Well yes I stand by everything I said because I mean, if Mr. Brooks would say I said something inflammatory he said a lot of things inflammatory to me. He said it in open session,” said Councilman Marty Turner/Ward Four.

The Columbus City Council is expected to meet tonight[Tuesday], its not certain if there will be any backlash from the recent facebook posts.
