Video: CREATE Foundation Presents First Stauffer Scholarships

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – Four recent high school graduates receive scholarships honoring the memory of a Tupelo Police officer killed in the line of duty.

Thursday morning, the first recipients of the “Sgt. Gale Stauffer Memorial Scholarship” were announced.

Stauffer was killed in 2013 while investigating a bank robbery. The CREATE Foundation established the fund in his honor.

Eligible students are high school graduates with a parent who is in law enforcement or a first responder.

” This is a wonderful tribute to Gale and his life and the sacrifice he made to see young people furthering their education and to be able to help with that, and to create more leaders for the future.”

Haley Bean, Grace Gault, Alex Norwood and Xavier Taylor will receive $2,500.00 each, to the college of their choice.
