Caledonia, Miss. (WCBI) — The inaugural Amputee Blade Runners 5K in Caledonia on Saturday made for a very special day for 2 runners.

Lacey Dubose and David Knight are both amputees and both finished the race thanks to their prosthetic limbs.

All the money raised at the event went to the race’s sponsor, Amputee Blade Runners.

“It was amazing. Like it was the best moment of my life, to cross that finish line.”

16 year old Lacey Dee-bose has been living with a prosthetic leg since she was 18 months old. Over the summer, she got a new leg. This one giving her the chance to run and finish a 5 K.

“There’s a bond there I feel like and uh nobody knows like we know.”

David Knight made the decision to have his foot amputated after he broke both OF HIS feet in a work accident. One year after receiving his prosthetic limb, he too finished a 5 K.

“It’s been a great recovery and I work full time, and play ball with my kids and I do everything I wanted to do.”

Knight says his life has been nothing but positive since the day he chose to live with a prosthetic limb.

“I’ve not had a bad day yet and it’s been a year so for a large part of my help has come from above and my recovery and my day to day process but I have a lot of support.”

And if you find an obstacle too big to overcome, Lacey offered her own advice.

“Never quit. That’s what I’ve learned in all this, never quit.”
