STARKVILLE, Miss.(WCBI)–On the this the anniversary of the 1963 March on Washington many are reflecting the challenges people of color faced decades ago. But what about now that some positive changes have occurred. One senior citizen who attended that march, and a college student who was not even born then.

And we can’t tell based on the color of their skin. And if they don’t get an opportunity many of our kids will not be able to compete internationally which is required in 2015,” said Johnnie Earl Rasberry/Clay County NAACP.

“What he started, he started something great but its not finished and we can clearly see that by past events that’s been going on that he started something great,” said Suzette Turner/College Student.

Many believe the March on Washington and the I Have A Dream Speech delivered by King that day was a catylis leading to the eventual signing and passage of the voting rights act.
