COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The immediate aftermath of a disaster can be a confusing time, and that confusion can lead to delays in emergency response.
To help combat that confusion, the Federal Emergency Management Agency developed the Incident Command System, which provides a model for assigning responsibilities in times of disaster.

Wednesday, an official from the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency brought Lowndes County elected and emergency officials up to speed on the program.

The workshop covered the ICS structure, setting up a unified command structure, coordinating with other local governments, and the relationships with State and Federal Agencies.
