TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — The Tupelo Ballet kicks off its holiday season with the 33rd annual performance of the Nutcracker.

The two-part ballet was in front of a full house of first graders at Tupelo High School.

The 160-member cast is made up of dancers ranging from 6 to 18 years old. They started rehearsing in September.

The crew says they’re happy to see their hard work pay off.

“It’s very rewarding, it’s rewarding for the girls too, to show what they’ve been working on, so yeah, it’s nice to see it on stage, and get to share it with everybody,” said Tracy Peters, associate director.

The Nutcracker will be performed Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the Tupelo High School Performing Arts Center.
