Video: Website: Columbus a Top Retirement City

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Columbus continues its ranking as the state’s best retirement town.

FindTheHome.com recently called “The Friendly City” the 45th best city in the country to retire in.

The website used various criteria to determine the ranking.

Healthcare, housing, and the number of people over the age of 65 with a college degree were used to create the list.

Local tourism leaders say there’s good reason for the high ranking.

“Every weekend and every day in Columbus there is something fun and interesting for people to do,” said Nancy Carpenter, Visit Columbus. “Retirees certainly are looking for affordable and they are looking for a city that offers so many amenities.”

Last year, “Where to Retire” magazine ranked Columbus as the best place to retire in the state.
