STARKVILLE, Miss.(WCBI)— Well The Mississippi State Football Team may have had the weekend off but there was still a huge competition on campus today.

The Humphrey Coliseum was filled with robots Saturday Morning.

“Today we’re having our MSU Best Robotics Competition. We’re so exited. It’s game day. These kids have been preparing for 6 months. Today is the day,” says Robotics Event Coordinator Dr. Vermitra White.

High school teams from all over the state and parts of Tennessee came to show off their best work and hopefully walk away with a win.

“They’ll get rewarded for the best engineering note book, best robot, best over all award for their marketing presentations,” says White.

The event was sponsored by The MSU Bagley College of Engineering. Robotics Event Coordinator says the event would not be possible with our their support and the support of others.

” And We would not be able to have this event without our corporate sponsors. We would not be able to have this event at all,” says White.

Saturday’s event brought out the crowds, mascots and even the band. But the over all goal for the competition is recruiting more students for next year.

“We want to be able to expand more in our golden triangle area to reach more schools. Not just in Starkville but Columbus area the Nouxbee county area to make a larger impact on all of our students,” says White.

The Competition began with preliminary rounds and the finalists were selected at the end of the event.

All The finalists will advance to the National Competition hosted in Auburn Alabama.
