Nusz Park Set to Host National Pro Fast-Pitch Game on Friday

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI/MSU Athletics) – As part of its 2016 Campus Tour, the USSSA Pride will take on the Pennsylvania Rebellion for a National Pro Fastpitch regular season game this Friday, June 17 at Nusz Park with first pitch set for 7 p.m. CT.

The contest on the Mississippi State campus is the first of nine NPF games to be played on college campuses this summer. Nusz Park is the new $6.4 million home to MSU softball and opened in February 2016,.

“Our new home is just incredible and this is a great opportunity for Nusz Park to be seen by even more softball fans,” MSU head coach Vann Stuedeman said. “Starkville is the place to be for great softball.”

Tickets can be purchased online at HailState.com/tickets or on game day at the Nusz Park ticket window. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 years old or younger and free to children three or younger that will not need a seat. Those that attend the MSU Softball Youth Camp (June 15-17) will receive free admission to the game.

State volunteer assistant Keilani Ricketts is in the midst of fourth NPF season, all of which have come with the Pride, while MSU assistant coach Samantha Ricketts is spending the summer as an assistant with the Pride. Former MSU shortstop Kayla Winkfield is thriving in her rookie season with the Rebellion after being taken with the 35th overall pick in last Thursday’s 2016 NPF Draft.

5 p.m. – Concession Stands Open

5:30 p.m. – Pride On-Field Batting Practice Begins

6:10 p.m. – Rebellion On-Field Defensive Warm-Ups

6:25 p.m. – Pride On-Field Defensive Warm-Ups

6:45 p.m. – Team Introductions

7:04 p.m. – First Pitch

Postgame – Autographs on the field for children 18 and under
