OKOLONA, Miss. (WCBI) — After much discussion Okolona’s assistant police chief has been let go.

The Okolona Mayor and Board of Aldermen voted 4-1 Tuesday night to fire Romona Robertson

Ward 3 Alderman Eldridge Lowe as the lone vote to keep Robertson.

Much of the discussion to fire Roberston was due to a Dec. 7, 2012 arrest by the Mississippi Highway Patrol. She was driving her city patrol car at the time.

On May 21, Special Justice Court Judge Ernest Cunningham found her guilty of driving under the influence, resisting arrest and speeding.

Robertson had been placed on medical leave before being let go on Tuesday.
