CLAY COUNTY, MS  (WCBI) – Oktibbeha County Circuit Clerk Glenn Hamilton and another man are arrested in Clay County, accused of having drugs and Indian artifacts.

The 60 year-old Hamilton and Rufus Edward Lewis, 59, are both charged with trespassing, possession of Indian artifacts, possession of paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance.

A Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks spokesman says a landowner called to report trespassers on their property about 10 PM Thursday.

Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott says three conservation officers went to the scene to assist deputies.

Hamilton and Lewis were arrested in a wooded area near an Indian mound.

Investigators haven’t said what type of artifact the men had but it was wooden.

During the search law enforcement found meth and drug paraphernalia.

Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics agents filed those charges.

Both men were released on $10,000 bonds.
