FROM PRESS RELEASE

COLUMBUS, Miss. – The delegation from the Lowndes County Board of Supervisors met with representatives for Delta Silicon and Silicor Friday, September 21, 2012 to discuss the current progress of the silicon metal and purification project.

Delta Silicon plans to manufacturer silicon metals and Silicor plans to construct a silicon purification facility.

Ralph Billingsley, Lowndes County Administrator, Tim Hudson, Lowndes County Attorney, Bill Brigham, District Two representative and Harry Sanders, board president and District One representative, determined that sufficient progress has been shown by Delta Silicon and Silicor to move forward with their extension.

A decision was made for the next meeting to be held in mid-November, at which the companies’ lenders are scheduled to visit Lowndes County as part of the approval process for the first portion of funding for the project.

A brief report on the silicon metals project and extension will be presented at the September 28, Lowndes County Board of Supervisors meeting.
