OXFORD, Miss. (AP) – Three people have been indicted in Lafayette County in the death of 21-year-old Xavier Benson in June.

The Oxford Eagle reports (http://bit.ly/p2p8XY ) that a grand jury indicted Anthony D. Smith of Abbeville for murder, while Allison R. Alexander and Robert L. Smith, both of Abbeville, were indicted for being accessories after the fact.

Prosecutors say Alexander and Robert Smith allegedly helped dispose of bloody sheets and helped Smith avoid arrest.

Benson was killed June 9 by a single gunshot wound to the chest at a home in the West Spring Hill community. Anthony Smith and Alexander were arrested later by U.S. Marshals in Jackson.

If convicted, Anthony Smith faces life in prison. Robert Smith and Alexander each face up to five years in prison.
