Lamar County dairy farmer Will Gilmer was selected out of a 100 ranchers and farmers across the county for the honor.
The contest’s goal was to identify a farmer or rancher who would be able to bridge the gap between food producers and food consumers.
Gilmer serves as chairman of the Alabama Dairy Committee and as a Faces of Farming and Ranching winner, he will receive a $10,000 dollar stipend to help offset the time he will spend away from the farm in the coming year.
He will be given the opportunity to direct a $5,000 dollar donation to an agriculture-related charity of his choice.
