VIDEO: Dealing With End Of The Semester Stress

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- Finals are just a few weeks away for most college students.

As the end of the semester nears the amount of stress for students increases.

Not only are they worrying about end of the semester exams and projects, but family stressors associated with the holidays can be another factor.

MUW Counselor Craig Watson says that there are some quick and easy methods for students to reduce this stress.

“The main things I would say is exercise is really important. When we’re stressed our body releases hormones associated with fight or flight so exercise gives those hormones an outlet. Prioritizing, getting organized is really important as well and learning to say no and set boundaries on certain things, knowing that you can’t do it all. The other thing is to make sure you’re practicing taking some time for your self. Making sure you’re practicing some self care,” says Watson.

He says that any students feeling overwhelmed should seek their schools counseling services.
