VIDEO: Keeping Columbus Clean

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI)- Columbus got a head start on “spring cleaning” and took to the rakes and shovels Saturday morning.

As a part of “Keeping Columbus Beautiful” ward 5 City Councilmen Stephen Jones along with city board members and area residents grabbed a shovel and got to work.

In the regular scheduled monthly meeting, the board was able to pinpoint areas in the ward that need a more attention than others.

Jones says hopefully this will be the start of a long going tradition.

“If you look good you feel good so maybe if we could make our communities look good and maybe people will feel a little better you know and we will start a little trend. If each community took just their block and started cleaning then we can make a big difference in the city of Columbus,” said Jones.

The councilman also partnered with “Keep Mississippi Beautiful” to plant daffodils during Saturday’s clean up.
