VIDEO: Small Business Receives $1,200 Check For Energy Efficiency

AMORY, Miss. (WCBI)- A locally owned cleaner’s received a nice check early this morning.

Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley and Atmos Energy presented Carlisle’s Cleaners in Amory with a 12-hundred-dollar check to offset equipment upgrades.

The owner recently replaced a 40-year-old boiler that ran at 60 percent efficient with and energy efficient gas fired boiler that is 92 percent efficient.

Because of this they will see lower gas bills for years to come, which happens to be the primary goal of the commissions program.

Commissioner Presley hopes this encourages other small businesses to do the same and reap the same rewards.

“Our program at the Public Service Commission combined with Atmos Energy and other utilities, is aimed at trying to reduce the cost so these businesses can stay in business, can expand, can hire more people, and really reduce their cost each month,” says Presley.

And owner Mitch Livingston, agrees.

“It’s a great program, anybody that makes an investment in their business should contact the Public Service Commission, because it’s just a, it’s not a life changing kind of thing but it’s just a nice thing to have because like they said, it pays one months utilities after you made the investment and it’s a great thing. I mean everyone should take advantage of the program,” says Livingston.

Small businesses can contact the Commissioner’s office directly to see if their business’ upgrades qualify for a rebate.
