West Point Cruiser Crashes on Hwy. 50
WEST POINT, Miss. – (WCBI) A collision with a West Point police cruiser, leaves one person injured.
The accident happened around 9:45 a.m Wednesday on Highway 50, near Judge Thomas Road. According to Corporal Criss Turnipseed with the Highway Patrol, West Point Assistant Police Chief Avery Cooks topped a hill, when Trovonda Johnson was stopped, waiting to make a left turn.
Cooks apparently swerved left to avoid Johnson’s Toyota Camry, but when she turned left at the same time, the two crashed.
The passenger in the Camry, 70-year old L.J. Jones, was transported to North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point.
The Highway Patrol continues to investigate this crash.
