CHOCTAW COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – The Choctaw County School District was expected to consolidate it’s school this fall, but that is not happening so far.
Superintendent Glen Beard tells WCBI they are still waiting for approval from The Department of Justice for approval.
They have not signed offon the proposed restructuring.
That means the county’s current school alignment will remain in place until they do.
The school board approved the proposal to consolidate Ackerman, Weir and French Camp into one high school, a middle school and two elementary schools.
It was projected the school district would save as much as 550 thousand dollars a year with the consolidation.
