Fed Up With City Politics

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – The recent firing of former City Administrator Lynn Spruil has put city politics on the front line of conversation and has many Starkville residents scratching their heads with disappointment.

Dennis Nordin is one of those residents who is concerned with the direction the city is heading. After the recent decision to overide Mayor Wiseman’s veto by the city’s Board of Alderman, Nordin chose to resign from two volunteered positions. Nordin held a seat on the Transportation Committee and served as the Ward 4 representative on the Board of Adjustments and Appeals. With a lack of communication and transperancy, Nordin feels city government is falling behind.

“I felt that I was doing something worthwhile and I felt the city was going in the right direction and I just felt I couldn’t contirbute anymore. I thought there’s not much the individuals who want to work for the city can contribute if they’re not going to be respected and instead be ignored.”

Ward 4 Alderman Jsson Walker will have to spear head an effort to replace Nordin. Nordin is the second vacancy for the Board of Adjustments and Appeals.
