MISS. (WCBI) -The Mississippi “No Call List” has been up and running for ten years now.
Tens of thousands of numbers are already registered on the list.
The list is meant to reduce the number of telemarketing phone calls people receive.
However, some telemarketers are exempt from the list including licensed real estate agents, motor vehicle agents, and insurance agents.
Public Service Commissioner Brandon Presley says, “[Just] because you are on the list doesn’t stop out-of-state violators from calling, and sometimes in-state violators will try and bypass our law. Just like every law. Someone is trying to break something. This program hinges on the public reporting these calls to our office so we can build a case against them.
You can register for the “No Call List” at www.ms.gov. It takes about two months for the registration to take effect.
