TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — Churches throughout the Tupelo area are preparing for a major outreach next summer.

On Sunday evening, a service was held at Tupelo’s Temple of Compassion and Deliverance, led by the ministry “Revive Tupelo.”

That ministry is helping organize a non-denominational and cross-cultural evangelistic outreach next summer throughout the city.

The theme of Sunday’s service was peace among Christians.

“We, from an outside perspective, were hearing about racial tensions and as we heard about the racial tension and talks, we felt like our ultimate goal in Revive Tupelo is to equip the church to share the gospel. But they’re not going to share the gospel unless we are on the same page and so we felt like over the next couple of months, we want to continue to establish peace, among the black and white church in Tupelo,” said Dr. Kyle Martin of Revive Tupelo.

Prayer meetings will be held monthly ,and early next year, training will begin for the summertime outreach.
