Tupelo School District is Sued on Discrimination Claim

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – According to The Daily Journal, Tupelo School District is being sued by a food service employee claiming she was discriminated against because she is gay.

In federal court on Friday, Peggy Hurley filed a complaint against Lynne Rogers and Judy Stark claiming the two treated her negatively after learning of her sexual orientation last summer. Hurley also claimed her rights under the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment were infringed upon.

Hurley seeks punitive damages for lost income and benefits, emotional and physical injuries and has requested to receive training for a managerial position.
