WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – The weather didn’t stop folks from coming out for health screenings and blood donations in West Point, Saturday.

The public health fair was held in the Kroger parking lot on Highway 45 Alternate. Screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, eye exams and other tests were included. United Blood Services also rolled through with their mobile blood services bus. Some donors say giving blood is just another way to serve the community.

“It’s been a while since I’ve donated blood but it’s just something that I normally do because there’s people around here that need blood transfusions and blood donations,” says blood donor Andrew Almond.

“Well it’s to help the community out and help everybody else that needs the help but I don’t mind helping. It don’t bother me to give blood,” says Robert Cliett, a West Point blood donor.

The health fair wrapped up about 4 Saturday afternoon.
