Video: Louisville Offering PTSD Counseling For First Responders

LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Louisville is helping first responders cope with the aftermath of the April 28th tornado.

The fire department hosted a counseling session for all volunteers, police officers and medical personnel who may be suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder after the storm.

Those who attended the meeting learned ways to cope and overcome their experience.

Doctor John Temple, the Chaplain for Mississippi Disaster Relief Program says so far he’s seen a huge impact.

“We had one person that was taken from her home by the tornado who had not slept a single night but after we worked on the process they called me the next day and said that was the first night they’ve slept all night,” says Dr. John Temple.

Schools in the area also received counseling.
