BALDWYN, Miss. (WCBI) — It was the perfect afternoon to relive history.

Dozens of folks gathered at the Brices Crossroads National Battlefield for a reenactment of the battle that took place 150 years ago.

Reenactors fired off cannons, and made calvary charges to recreate what took place on June 10, 1864.

Participants say preparing for the real battle was much more difficult.

“They would have drilled and trained for eight hours a day,” said reenactor Scott Garrett. “General Patrick Cleburne of the Confederate States Army of the Tennessee actually would set up firing ranges. They’d fire at target practice. They trained at loading the muskets and their weapons. They trained at manuveuring, they we constantly doing something.”
