Traveling for Thanksgiving? Weather Delays are Possible…

Here’s a look at Thanksgiving travel conditions across the Southeast and the USA for the holiday weekend!

Locally: Expect temperatures in the 50s with ample sunshine.  It will feel a bit chilly, especially once the sun sets.  If you’re heading to the Egg Bowl, you’ll need to layer up!

Regionally: The southeast looks to stay dry through the weekend, with the exception of some showers and storms in Florida.  Look for great traveling conditions on the road heading through the weekend.

Nationally: Much of the heart of the country will stay dry through the week.  The only exception is the far upper Midwest which could see a quick clipper system from Minnesota to Michigan over the weekend.  Along the west coast, lots of moisture could bring rain, clouds and fog meaning unwanted travel delays at the airports in Northern California and in the Pacific Northwest.  On the east coast, we’ll be keeping our eyes on a non-tropical system which will slide up the eastern seaboard.  It could remain mostly offshore, but if it does shift to the west even only 100 miles, it could mean high impact travel delays for those along the Northeastern Seaboard.  Be sure to check your local airport and your airlines for delays prior to traveling.

Thanksgiving Climatology in Mississippi: Looking over the last 10 years, we’ll be just a bit below average, but we’ll take all the sunshine we can get!
