The Heat Wave Continues…

HEAT SAFETY TIPS:  With the hottest weekend of the year and lots of outdoor events, here’s some tips to remember…
1) Check on elderly and those without access to air conditioning
2) Stay hydrated and drink lots of water
3) “Beat the heat, check the backseat” – leave no children and pets in a vehicle
4) Wear plenty of sunscreen and avoid sun exposure for too long

TONIGHT: Clear, calm, and quiet. Lows in the upper 60s to around 70.

SUNDAY – TUESDAY:  Look for mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies each day. Daytime highs should be generally in the mid 90s with overnight lows around 70.  While a stray shower can never be ruled out in this kind of weather pattern we don’t expect any issues at this time.  Be sure to find a cool spot during the heating of the day with heat indices peaking in the mid to upper 90s.

WEDNESDAY – FRIDAY:  The extreme heat should back off just a little bit as a weak cold front approaches.  Highs will likely still be around 90° or into the lower 90s.  We’re going to add a 20% chance of a shower or storm during this period but keep in mind cold fronts have a difficult time making their way this far south during the summer months.

NEXT WEEKEND AND FIRST WEEK OF JUNE: Extended outlooks continue to suggest above average temperatures through June 8th.  While a cooler day can’t be ruled out, we’re still thinking temperatures will remain in the upper 80s and 90s.  However, odds are increasing for “above average precipitation” which may suggest a better chance for pop-up showers and storms around our neck of the woods.  We’ll monitor.
