Heat Wave On The Way With Little Relief in Sight

Warm and sunny today with highs back in the low to mid 90s.

TROPICS: Hurricane Dorian is now a Major Category 3 Hurricane and lifting through the Carolinas now.  Dorian is expected to make landfall in North Carolina later today into tonight as it continues to the north and east.

Tropical Storm Fernand has dissipated as it made landfall south of Brownsville, TX on Wednesday afternoon.

Tropical Storm Gabrielle remains out in the open waters of the Atlantic and poses no threat to the United States.

2 other areas are being monitored for tropical development, neither which pose a threat to the mainland USA over the next 7 days, though one of them must be watched.

TODAY: Lots of sunshine again as temperatures climb into the low 90s.  Look for north winds 7-12 mph under a mostly sunny sky.

TONIGHT: North winds fall below 5 mph under a clear and starry sky.  Look for temperatures in the low 60s, thanks to some drier air settling on in.

FRIDAY – WEDNESDAY: More summer weather and sunshine is expected into the weekend as highs will be in the mid 90s, with some spots climbing into the upper 90s. The warm weather looks to continue into next week with heat index values climbing into the triple digits most days.  No widespread beneficial rainfall is anticipated, though we do think we’ll see low end chances for at least a few isolated showers later into next week.
