Winter Weather Alerts Now In Effect
WINTER STORM WATCH for West Alabama and the Golden Triangle areas. WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY for Tupelo and surrounding areas.
SUNDAY NIGHT: Lows Sunday Night fall back into the 30s with calm winds and a mostly clear to partly cloudy sky.
MONDAY: Unseasonably mild air returns for just one day. We currently expect highs in the 60s with a southwesterly breeze. Showers will roll in after supper time and temperatures will quickly free-fall as the cold front passes through. Winds will also pick up out of the north through Monday Night.
MONDAY NIGHT-TUESDAY: An Arctic cold front is expected to pass through our area late Monday Night into early Tuesday morning. Our current thinking Sunday morning is for 1-2″ area-wide, with some seeing a little less and some seeing a little more. Look for the official snowfall forecast to come out Sunday Night on WCBI News.
This will be an impact-based storm. It is likely Tuesday morning with temperatures in the 20s that many areas that receive snow will be dealing with black ice and slick road conditions Tuesday. We believe it remains very possible that many schools will close and roads will be difficult to travel. Even with the lightest amount of snow, impacts may end up being fairly high with this event.
The good news is by Tuesday mid-morning, ample sunshine will roll in. That will aid in melting snow and ice from roadways and may very well limit issues by Tuesday afternoon and into Wednesday morning. We’ll need to watch to see how it does. Temperatures Tuesday Night fall into the upper teens.

TUESDAY NIGHT-WEDNESDAY: Black ice and dangerous wind chill values will be an ongoing concern after the snow. Dry air and ample sunshine will help evaporate a lot of the moisture off the roads Tuesday afternoon, but it is still probable that some areas will be dealing with slick spots heading into Wednesday. Wednesday Afternoon, look for highs in the upper 30s to perhaps low 40s. That coupled with abundant sunshine will help to really take care of things across the area by Wednesday afternoon.
THURSDAY – NEXT WEEKEND: Temperatures slowly rise every day, approaching the 50s by Saturday. We may be dealing with a few showers Friday and Saturday. We’ll monitor.
