The remnants of what at one point was Hurricane Harvey swirled through the Deep South on Thursday, August 31st.  Several tornadoes touched down in the WCBI News coverage area. The strongest was an EF-2 that was on the ground in Pickens, Lamar, and Fayette Counties in West Alabama.  It was responsible for 6 minor injuries and thankfully no fatalities.

Two tornadoes came out of a storm that moved through northwestern Itawamba County and southern Prentiss County.  No injuries or fatalities occurred with either of these twisters.  EF-1 damage was found in Itawamba County west of the Kirkville community.    EF-0 tree and structural damage was found about 3 miles south of Booneville in Prentiss County.

An additional weak tornado has been identified just to the north of Tupelo.  It will likely be rated as an EF-0 by the NWS Office in Memphis but will require further review.

A 5th tornado, rated EF-0, touched down just outside of the WCBI coverage area in Benton County near Michigan City.
